ASSAM

Overview

With its name derived from the dead language Ahom, Assam and its radical history have multiple origin sources. India’s tea and silk state is home to one-horned rhinoceros and the largest habitat center for Asian elephants. Assam also has the world’s largest river island, Majuli, and it is known for its most notable handicraft, Sitalpati (a mat). In addition, Assam is also famous for its folk dance, Bihu.
